Application of Metallic Iron and Ferrates in Water and Wastewater Treatment for Cr(VI) and Organic Contaminants Removal

چکیده
Iron species can act as electron donors, acceptors or serve a sorbent to co-precipitate contaminants. These properties, along with its relatively low cost material, make iron an ideal compound for environmental applications in the removal of pollutants from water and wastewater. This study assesses use metallic reductant toxic Cr(VI) aqueous solutions, well hexavalent (ferrates) organic compounds, turbidity biological contaminants Laboratory-scale experiments show that efficiency filling materials, such scrap fillings, via reduction Cr(III) subsequent precipitation/filtration aggregates reach values over 99.0%. Moreover, ferrates, situ synthesized low-cost Fe0/Fe0 electrochemical cell, high-strength industrial wastewater, biologically treated wastewater natural also The results showed be applied environmentally friendly technologies remediation treatment.
